[These events took place roughly between 5:30 and 6:30 AM, November 13th in Terminal 2 of the San Diego International Airport. I'm writing this approximately 2 1/2 hours after the events transpired, and they are correct to the best of my recollection. I will admit to being particularly fuzzy on the exact order of events when dealing with the agents after getting my ticket refunded; however, all of the events described did occur.
I had my phone recording audio and video of much of these events. It can be viewed below.
Please spread this story as far and wide as possible. I will make no claims to copyright or otherwise.]
This morning, I tried to fly out of San Diego International Airport but was refused by the TSA. I had been somewhat prepared for this eventuality. I have been reading about the millimeter wave and backscatter x-ray machines and the possible harm to health as well as the vivid pictures they create of people's naked bodies. Not wanting to go through them, I had done my research on the TSA's website prior to traveling to see if SAN had them. From all indications, they did not. When I arrived at the security line, I found that the TSA's website was out of date. SAN does in fact utilize backscatter x-ray machines.
I made my way through the line toward the first line of "defense": the TSA ID checker. This agent looked over my boarding pass, looked over my ID, looked at me and then back at my ID. After that, he waved me through. SAN is still operating metal detectors, so I walked over to one of the lines for them. After removing my shoes and making my way toward the metal detector, the person in front of me in line was pulled out to go through the backscatter machine. After asking what it was and being told, he opted out. This left the machine free, and before I could go through the metal detector, I was pulled out of line to go through the backscatter machine. When asked, I half-chuckled and said, "I don't think so." At this point, I was informed that I would be subject to a pat down, and I waited for another agent.
A male agent (it was a female who had directed me to the backscatter machine in the first place), came and waited for me to get my bags and then directed me over to the far corner of the area for screening. After setting my things on a table, he turned to me and began to explain that he was going to do a "standard" pat down. (I thought to myself, "great, not one of those gropings like I've been reading about".) After he described, the pat down, I realized that he intended to touch my groin. After he finished his description but before he started the pat down, I looked him straight in the eye and said, "if you touch my junk, I'll have you arrested." He, a bit taken aback, informed me that he would have to involve his supervisor because of my comment.
We both stood there for no more than probably two minutes before a female TSA agent (apparently, the supervisor) arrived. She described to me that because I had opted out of the backscatter screening, I would now be patted down, and that involved running hands up the inside of my legs until they felt my groin. I stated that I would not allow myself to be subject to a molestation as a condition of getting on my flight. The supervisor informed me that it was a standard administrative security check and that they were authorized to do it. I repeated that I felt what they were doing was a sexual assault, and that if they were anyone but the government, the act would be illegal. I believe that I was then informed that if I did not submit to the inspection, I would not be getting on my flight. I again stated that I thought the search was illegal. I told her that I would be willing to submit to a walk through the metal detector as over 80% of the rest of the people were doing, but I would not be groped. The supervisor, then offered to go get her supervisor.
I took a seat in a tiny metal chair next to the table with my belongings and waited. While waiting, I asked the original agent (who was supposed to do the pat down) if he had many people opt out to which he replied, none (or almost none, I don't remember exactly). He said that I gave up a lot of rights when I bought my ticket. I replied that the government took them away after September 11th. There was silence until the next supervisor arrived. A few minutes later, the female agent/supervisor arrived with a man in a suit (not a uniform). He gave me a business card identifying him as David Silva, Transportation Security Manager, San Diego International Airport. At this point, more TSA agents as well as what I assume was a local police officer arrived on the scene and surrounded the area where I was being detained. The female supervisor explained the situation to Mr. Silva. After some quick back and forth (that I didn't understand/hear), I could overhear Mr. Silva say something to the effect of, "then escort him from the airport." I again offered to submit to the metal detector, and my father-in-law, who was near by also tried to plead for some reasonableness on the TSA's part.
The female supervisor took my ID at this point and began taking some kind of report with which I cooperated. Once she had finished, I asked if I could put my shoes back on. I was allowed to put my shoes back on and gather my belongs. I asked, "are we done here" (it was clear at this point that I was going to be escorted out), and the local police officer said, "follow me". I followed him around the side of the screening area and back out to the ticketing area. I said apologized to him for the hassle, to which he replied that it was not a problem.
I made my way over to the American Airlines counter, explained the situation, and asked if my ticket could be refunded. The woman behind the counter furiously typed away for about 30 seconds before letting me know that she would need a supervisor. She went to the other end of the counter. When she returned, she informed me that the ticket was non-refundable, but that she was still trying to find a supervisor. After a few more minutes, she was able to refund my ticket. I told her that I had previously had a bad experience with American Airlines and had sworn never to fly with them again (I rationalized this trip since my father-in-law had paid for the ticket), but that after her helpfulness, I would once again be willing to use their carrier again.
At this point, I thought it was all over. I began to make my way to the stairs to exit the airport, when I was approached by another man in slacks and a sport coat. He was accompanied by the officer that had escorted me to the ticketing area and Mr. Silva. He informed me that I could not leave the airport. He said that once I start the screening in the secure area, I could not leave until it was completed. Having left the area, he stated, I would be subject to a civil suit and a $10,000 fine. I asked him if he was also going to fine the 6 TSA agents and the local police officer who escorted me from the secure area. After all, I did exactly what I was told. He said that they didn't know the rules, and that he would deal with them later. They would not be subject to civil penalties. I then pointed to Mr. Silva and asked if he would be subject to any penalties. He is the agents' supervisor, and he directed them to escort me out. The man informed me that Mr. Silva was new and he would not be subject to penalties, either. He again asserted the necessity that I return to the screening area. When I asked why, he explained that I may have an incendiary device and whether or not that was true needed to be determined. I told him that I would submit to a walk through the metal detector, but that was it; I would not be groped. He told me that their procedures are on their website, and therefore, I was fully informed before I entered the airport; I had implicitly agreed to whatever screening they deemed appropriate. I told him that San Diego was not listed on the TSA's website as an airport using Advanced Imaging Technology, and I believed that I would only be subject to the metal detector. He replied that he was not a webmaster, and I asked then why he was referring me to the TSA's website if he didn't know anything about it. I again refused to re-enter the screening area.
The man asked me to stay put while he walked off to confer with the officer and Mr. Silva. They went about 20 feet away and began talking amongst themselves while I waited. I couldn't over hear anything, but I got the impression that the police officer was recounting his version of the events that had transpired in the screening area (my initial refusal to be patted down). After a few minutes, I asked loudly across the distance if I was free to leave. The man dismissively held up a finger and said, "hold on". I waited. After another minute or so, he returned and asked for my name. I asked why he needed it, and reminded him that the female supervisor/agent had already taken a report. He said that he was trying to be friendly and help me out. I asked to what end. He reminded me that I could be sued civilly and face a $10,000 fine and that my cooperation could help mitigate the penalties I was facing. I replied that he already had my information in the report that was taken and I asked if I was free to leave. I reminded him that he was now illegally detaining me and that I would not be subject to screening as a condition of leaving the airport. He told me that he was only trying to help (I should note that his demeanor never suggested that he was trying to help. I was clearly being interrogated.), and that no one was forcing me to stay. I asked if tried to leave if he would have the officer arrest me. He again said that no one was forcing me to stay. I looked him in the eye, and said, "then I'm leaving". He replied, "then we'll bring a civil suit against you", to which I said, "you bring that suit" and walked out of the airport.

I was in the middle of telling someone that if I was going to be felt up, I wanted it done in public so that everyone could see what it is that the TSA does. Here is the rest of that video.
After I was escorted out to the ticketing area, I went to have my ticket refunded. I didn't have the opportunity or the presence of mind to turn the camera back on until everyone walked away from me.

It was never meant for the Federal Government to have the power of rule as it has today. Before 1913 the Federal Government had to receive permission from a majority of the State Governments before it could do anything!

In 1913 with the ratification 16th and 17th Amendments of the US Constitution the power of rule was transferred from the the States and the people there of to the Federal Government.
The 16th and 17th Amendment was not to give the Federal Government the power to tax as people are lead to believe. The federal Government already was given the power of taxation by Article I, Section 8, Clause 1, limited by Article I, Section 2, Clause 3 and Article I, Section 9, Clause 4. But the power to rule the States and the people there of.
Repeal the 16th & 17th Amendments and this nightmare will go away!

Mr. Obama -- are you reading this? stop traveling on the govt's dime (you did not get much accomplished on your G20 trip -- think cost/benefit of your trip - most business people would get fired with your performance. Fix the domestic problems - creating more TSA jobs is just a waste of money unless you need to know how many TSA workers it takes to screw a lightbulb into a socket.

ReplyDeleteThat's the link to the "$10,000 civil penalty" info the TSA manager/supervisor was threatening. Sure enough, this policy is in place (read the pdf file). They even allow for increased penalties using this criteria: "5. Attitude of violator, including the nature of any corrective action taken by the alleged violator" In other words, if you as the so-called "violator" are less than fully compliant with them, or if you take corrective action against them (a lawsuit), they can up the penalty at their discretion.
This just gets worse and worse. I commend you/him for having taken a stand.

As a foreigner it made me hate America as a holiday country and I never want to enter an America airport any more.
I had a wound on my foot, surgery. But, they still forced me to make me stand on the dirty floor. I was not allowed to stand on a tissue that was much cleaner.
Stupid rules! When I hesitated to stand on this dirty floor they made me go to a patting room.
ABSURD! Even when I showed them the wound, the only became more dominant.
My kids were still small and did not understand why the took their parent away and why they seem to be irritated.They got scared.

End this nonsense now! To end this nonsense we need to amend the US Constitution with an amendment that will restore the States authority to rule the Federal Government. I am seriously considering not flying if I am going to be subjected to this sort of searching. Yes flying is a privilege (not a right), and if more people opt not to fly, then the airlines will surely take note, setting off their lobbyist armies to change the laws. I suppose business meetings will have to be done over the phone/video conferencing. Better for the environment, but not good for our civil rights. This is just one more chip taken out of our civil liberties, which includes freedom of movement. Soon everyone will be scanned/watched walking on the sidewalks (actually that's already happening). Hm, upon reflection, we've really gone downhill as a nation. We need a little reminder of what makes this nation so great - freedom - real freedom - to write emails, make phone calls, text, send a letter, take a walk, etc. without the threat that government entities (probably contracted agents, too) reading, listening, recording, searching what each of us does. It's gotten out of control, and if each person doesn't stand up, our freedoms will continue to be chipped away bit by bit, until we realize some day that we are living in fear. If we are not careful, we will build up a system and economy that depends on this "security" platform to justify its existence. This may in turn result in a large bureaucracy that will be nearly impossible to dismantle once established (much of it already is). Each citizen of this country (or any country) must be diligent about protecting freedom - in times of war/upheaval AND peace. It is in the interest of many of the people in power to keep their hold on and increase their status and influence. Let's just be a smart, rational, sensible bunch of Americans and demand from our airlines and congress members to revoke such intrusive screening and invasions of bodily (and otherwise) privacy.

I have mixed feelings about this whole situation. While I applaud you for standing up for your rights and accepting the consequence not to fly, I am not 100% against TSAs stance either. I fly a lot, and I personally do not want to be scared every time I do that something horrible is going to happen to me. I don't like the body scanners either, but i am more than willing to submit to a pat down instead. I don't consider this molestation, because I do not believe that TSA nor the people doing the pat downs are doing so at their own pleasure. Do you really think that TSA is a group of rapists who think up ways to satisfy their lustful urges? Their end game is to make flying safe, and ultimately protect my civil liberties by protecting my life. I value my life, and I want to be able to travel around the world safely and I will therefore submit to the requests that are currently imposed at airport security. If at some point in time the screening becomes too much for me to bear, I will exercise my civil liberties by not flying anymore.

They did escort you off, and then referred you to an inaccurate website and then told you that you could be sued because you cooperated and followed their own directions. That guy you spoke with at the end was a real idiot.
I believe that in the end, all of this publicity will simply encourage TSA to dot their i's and cross their t's and really make sure they have a solid handle on their stance and information. I don't believe airport screening will change as a result of these incidents, and to be honest I don't really want them to. I think if you don't submit to the screenings imposed to protect my safety and the safety of my loved ones, then you shouldn't be allowed to fly. Period.

ReplyDeleteThank you TSA for checking! I prefer being safe at the cost of a little privacy over being dead. It is surprising that it only takes so few years for people to forget what caused the additional checks - I still have vivid pictures in my mind of the World Trade towers crashing down.
Who in his right mind would give people the option of walking away the moment they are supposed to be checked entering the airport? Do you also think it would be OK for State Troopers to let people return to your favorite bar and call a cab instead of issuing a DUI after they get caught?
Do you really think the TSA agent was planning on giving you a hand job? I have never seen nor been exposed to anything but non-intrusive touches with the back of their hands.

I'm flying to Germany from LAX in a 4 weeks and I will also refuse to subject myself to the BackScatter. I'll have to decide how I fell about that pat down though.

I truly hope that they bring a Civil Suit against you and that they pursue criminal charges as well. When you purchase a ticket for a flight, you need to read the fine print, you are subject to any search deemed reasonable by TSA, including random full-body scans. If you decline any of these scans, you are subject to a complete pat-down. A groin check is your leg, not your "junk" as you so politely put it. You repeatedly ask for equal treatment, which you ARE getting. They select people at random for full-body scans and if you decline it, you are further suspected of criminal activity and are now subject to more screening.

ReplyDeleteI applaud your efforts. I always thought that the backscatter or whatever it's called was to be optional. One time I accidentally got into the lines for the virtual strip search machine (I try to avoid these lines) and realized that if I tried to go to the regular X-Ray line, this would be a red flag to TSA officers and I would be subjected to additional screening. In another incident, The front desk guard considered something about how I act to be suspicious and directed me to the virtual strip search line and I didn't have the guts to refuse and was concerned my employer would fire me if I caused a scene that most likely would be reported by the local media. Because of the 9/11 tragedy, politicians in Washington have justified taking our rights away in the name of The War on Terrorism. Thank you for standing up for your rights!

ReplyDeleteI can understand everyone's concern for the new systems being utilized by TSA, but I have an even bigger question: If allowed to go through the security checkpoint without being checked thoroughly were available, don't you think it would be the first thing the next terrorist would try? Would your family members, upon being notified that the plane you were on had blown up midair, feel better knowing that at least you weren't offended at being "felt up" before you died? I'm sure the terrorist group that had blown up the plane would!

ReplyDeleteWhile I certainly agree that the latest escalation in the TSA war against all flyers is repraochable, it is also indicative of the perversity present throughout the entire US culture. It is indeed wrong for the government to presume all flyers guilty until screened as innocent, but anyone can buy a car and get free automatic weapon? So all new car buyers in Florida should be presumed AK47 owners, and anyone shopping for them pre-screened for possible security issues? Additionally, the mentality of the TSA/Police has been warped after years of polical hardnosing proclaiming the need to "get tough" on this or that, whatever the hot button of the time is. This get-tough attitude is all too eagerly played out by someone with a uniform and an ill-placed sense of duty.

It would be interesting to see if on mass people just said no, whether the Federal Government would back down, or we would find ourselves faced with new federal laws requiring us to submit to being "patted down" (felt up) by any federal enforcement entity, anywhere, any time, for amy reason, at their discretion - all for our safety of course.
ReplyDeleteIt seems while providing a so-called opt out to the scanners (something the fed deemed necessary to get theit foot in the door with this technology), at the same time the Fed is making the opt out so intrusive, so demeaning, and so intimidating, that it is not really an opt out at all.
How long before, in the effort to restrict the flow of terrorists from state to state, we have check points at the state lines and have to undergo similar procedures to cross state lines?
Or what about public bulding security - we want to protect people in public buildings don't we? Far more people have died in public buildings at the hand of terrorists than in airplanes. What is to stop the Fed from introducing similar measures to enter public buildings.
And we definitly don't want terrorists to have access to polling places. So why not in the interest of public safety introduce this technology to the polling place entrance? After all they are only protecting us right?
And when all that proves fruitless in stopping terrorists, perhaps random traffic stops with full body scans or groin pat downs can be incorporated at the local police level. I mean we all want to be safe don't we?
The trouble with the safety argument is that it can be used to completely do away with freedom in the name of safety...
Something to think about before you give the fed cart-blanc to whatever it feels is necessary to protect you...
How about starting a national no-fly day where all over the country we do exactly what this guy did, but thousands of us just saying no to being electronically raped by the Federal Government and just saying no to being physically molested... all for the sake of saftey of course.
about 2002...having to fly to Oxnard, Ca..east of Los Angels, to retrieve a van that a sister had left...a long story...I wore tennis shoes, and at the Oakland Airport, was pulled aside, and had to remove the shoes...I am a proponent of civil disobediance, few are doing it now...much is needed to end this corporate tryanny that we are being sujected to....moving back from Santa Rosa to Louisiana...a most rural area...driving across the border to go into Mexico, was stopped, not having notified the contents of my truck, moving ...and not allowed into Juarez...came back, all within view of the Americanos...who made it miserable for me...I expressed my displeasure, with threats of actions against me for speaking "out of term"...if I had not had two sisters, I would have been freely arrested....End this corporate tryanny...america for americans, not for corporations...

ReplyDeleteThey are currently setting the precedent and guaging how much abuse people will accept. Their ultimate objective is shut down air travel to the general public ( which the ruling elite wrote about decades ago) because they must restrict our mobility so they can control us more effectively. WE, the ordinary masses, are the threat to the worlds ruling class, not some faux terrorists. They have been slowly and incrementally eroding our rights and freedoms and making everything a "privledge" for some time now.
This mans actions should be extolled, not chastised. May he lead by example.

In either way, you people have to become politically active and involved to put all of this abuse of privacy rights to an end. Wire taps, IP storage and whatever else there is all needs to go.
Total security is an illusion. Such a thing will and can never exist. That's why sticking to ones personal beliefs, rights and freedom isn't opening the doors for terrorists but just a logical inference. Everything else is a unthought through misconception.
I applaud you for forfeiting your trip for the sake of keeping your own dignity. If more people were like you, you wouldn't have had to do this in the first place.

If the TSA was indeed having our best interest involed, they would see that this man was not a threat and end it, at the refusal of the search.... But No! That agent needed to have a hard on, and keep pushing the situation... It showed me, that the TSA is no more than over zelus mall security guards, that need their A#@ kicked like back in middle school... ReplyDeleteI applaud your bravery to stand up to these guys, but the upshot of episodes like these is that airlines will change their small print so that non-compliance in airport security screening does not constitute grounds for a refund.
ReplyDeleteWhat I would recommend is that everyone make a point of videoing the "enhanced" patdown they receive as a result of opting out of the backscatter x-rays. I suspect that at the moment these patdowns are unnecessarily (and arguably punitatively) intrusive in order to discourage people from opting for them. If we all make a habit of videoing them, we should be able to nip that in the bud.

First of all, I think you're over-reacting in regards to a pat-down. And your comment about "having the officer arrested" was really immature.
ReplyDeleteSecond of all, you had every right to refuse the scan, the pat-down, get your ticket refunded, and leave the airport with dignity (and no lawsuit). Fight them, and I hope you win.
I understand the need for security and appreciate the TSA employees who feel what they are doing is in the best interest of the American people...at least I hope so...but when when we start treating our citizens like a potential enemy then the war is lost and we have lost our way of life and I'd rather endure hand to hand combat on my flight with a terrorist than live in a totalitarian State. Folks...your groin area is not "your junk". It is the upper/inner part of your LEG. It is not sexual assault to pat down a leg. The Officer CLEARLY stated that he would patting the leg not the guy's "junk". If you have a problem with the procedures, challenge them appropriately. But know that the law is clear that once you submit yourself or property for screening, you are consenting to searches.
ReplyDeleteRecently I passed through the metal detector in Washington Reagan (DCA) airport. Though it didn't set off the metal detector, I was randomly pulled aside for bomb detection test. While I was waiting on the side for that, TSA opened my laptop bag and removed a GPS. I didn't realize that till I got to my home airport. Is TSA stealing items from bag? This is out of control.

ReplyDeleteOkay.... having read all the comments and seeing both sides of this issue, I have to say that yes.... the rules are there prior to the purchase of the ticket and available for all to see. However, John should have been afforded the opportunity to walk away from the search at any time and not detained as he had broken no law. As to the claim that John caused some sort of disturbance at the airport and delayed anyone else.. well.. that is just silly. The TSA and the government are the ones causing the delays. There is really no reason at all for all these security procedures at airports. i mean, if you were really trying to kill people in a terrorist fashion, why wouldn't you just walk into a crowded mall with a JC Penny's bag in which you had a large pile of C4 hooked to a detonator and take out the mall? This obsession with airports makes no sense at all. If there were such a huge terrorist threat in this country, you would be seeing bombs going off all over in train stations, malls, buses, churches.. anywhere people congregated in large numbers. Spending all these resources and man hours on security at airports is like hiding under a tree in a thunder storm to stay safe from lightening. You ain't gonna get hit in the first place, an under a tree is the worst spot to be! It just makes no sense at all. It is really interesting though how these airport searches being done are so reminiscent of the nazi SS of yore.... the asking for your papers.. the random pulling from line and being subjected to demeaning and unnecessary search and humiliation. We should always purchase refundable tickets in the future. Then if we get thrown to the curb the airlines will fly with an empty seat. After enough losses THEY will stop this crap.

One comment about how would you like it if someone came to your home and searched you...etc, etc. Come on. Use your brains. Your home is your castle. Do you realize the Founding Fathers wanted to have the clause "secure in your property" in the Bill of Rights? The airport is there and supported by businesses. No matter what most of the people say on here, the company has a right to enforce their rules (and if that involves TSA, so be it) and you have the right not to fly. You do not have the right to fly on your terms just as I do not have the right to ask you to take your car and drive me wherever I want to go.

Whatever happend to "Innocent until proven guilty"? It's shameful that the governments reaction has been to strip us of our liberties instead of finding sensible measures to insure safety. Has anyone investigated the long term effects to unborn babies these machines may present? How about the effect a "pat-down" might have on emotionally distressed people? Keep up the fight!

Does it matter if he did this for publicity? In fact, the publicity is the entire point. Without a recording, the TSA could easily have denied all of his claims and that would truly be a wasted effort.
Why did he make the effort? As an earlier poster has pointed out - 'legal' measures did not work. The 9th Circuit ruled it was OK when countless people felt it was not. Letters to the TSA and government were deflected constantly by replies of "not our responsibility". And most people don't even question the scans, which removes the ability to change this by voting or with strength of numbers - unless it is publicized, and people made aware that it is not abnormal to feel uncomfortable with this.
Not questioning the removal of your rights doesn't make it okay to remove those rights just because you didn't feel the need to use them. Just because you as a person can't envision the day those rights become the only shield to protect you and your family doesn't mean that day won't come.
It always comes. It came for the Jews, it came for the Russians, it came for the Chinese and every other dictatorial government in history. And by the time you realize, it's already too late - you won't have the luxury of publicity that John does now.
Democracy is a historical fluke. Your Constitution and the Bill of Rights came about in extremely unlikely ways. If you want to safeguard that fluke, you had better damned well start treasuring the little things, like your right not to get your private parts groped. You may think it's no big deal, but lose this little fight and they will institute worse measures.
How about no carry-on luggage? People will say, "That's not so far from the measures we have now. Don't be unreasonable."
Next: Rectal examinations?
People: "That's fine, we already have feelies up and down for ages, this is only a small step up."
Next: Full strip search?
People: "They're already going inside your rectum, you don't really think they're that turned on about your body? Submit to it."
Then you end up with the naked sleeping plane scenario. It's not far-fetched at all.

So now we scan the whole body with x-ray - and that is safe? I don't think so.

They do nothing for security, rather they steal from the innocents they so brashly claim to, "protect." I salute you for fighting the good fight. I actually just flew through Terminal 2 in SD and was, of course, subjected to one of those scanner things. My buddy flying with me was not. Why? Dunno, but maybe cuz she's blonde and I'm a bit tan. At least she got a kick out of it, heh. In fairness, one TSA lady at the X-Ray machine line was rather pleasant. The other were your run of the mill TSA grunts with that wonderfully overbearing and offputting "you should be thanking me" air that they've mastered so well.

ReplyDeleteIf there is anyone out there that has a better idea of how to protect us USA citizens from these brutal killers that want to kill us just to make them self’s feel good and to please there god, then by all means submit your ideas to the government for review.
But to book a ticket and prepair for something that you know is going to happen, why the hell did you not find another way to get where you wanted to go.
I feel very good for the work and progress that the govenment and the security of the airports here in america are doing and if that deems them to take an xray or a pat down by my choice then so be it. Just like the man said: when you purchased the ticket you were given all the rules that you were to be subjected to and at no time did you have to buy your ticket, no one forced you to buy the ticket….you made that choice all on your own…..so what the hell you were thinking to go to the airport and record something when you knew you were going to get selected by inquiring as to the screening process is an automatic reason for them to select you.

You made a choice to go through the screening process these children had no choice. The law is the law there are other modes of travel which you could have taken to reach your destination. Seriously...grow up and get the scan. People like you shouldn't be allowed on a plane. Big freakin' deal. Just walk through the scanner and be on your way if you want to fly. Way to hold up the airport and use resources because you want to be an ass. If you don't like the security measures you are free to drive.

If everyone stopped flying for one month, signed petitions and wrote their house rep/senator this injustice would have to end.
